60 Need-Based Scholarships available for KIDS CAMPS
South Texas Botanical Gardens has received a two-year Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) CO-OP grant (Community Outdoor Outreach Program), providing 60 need-based scholarships for week-long, half-day KIDS SUMMER NATURE CAMPS in June and July. The grant also assists with equipment, supplies and extra staffing.
Seven camp sessions, for ages 6-14, are designed with exciting animal interactions & engaging nature activities in a safe environment. Led by Education and Animal Care staff and trained volunteers, the varied-theme summer camps split into pods of 10 or less, learning together the entire week, including daily science investigations, nature models , journaling. Camp shirt, snacks drinks are provided.
Roughly half the educational activities are in outdoor exhibit or trail areas. Campers should BRING a water bottle, hat and extra snack; and WEAR sunscreen, comfortable cool clothing, close-toed shoes. Direct questions, scholarship application requests to brendae@stxbot.org,

Campers ages 6-8 will love this look into the world of tropical parrots & reptiles, interacting with different animals and participating in fun labs.

SNAKES & FRIENDS
Campers ages 9-12 interact with snakes, lizards & turtles supervised by trained Animal Care staff, studying animal differences, habitats, diets, more.

TINY CRITTERS
Youngsters ages 6-8 explore digging, crawling & flying insects, & other tiny creatures, using observation skills, science lab tools, making a tiny creature habitat to take home.

NATURE BUDDIES
Campers ages 6-8 explore multiple habitats learning about birds, reptiles and plants. Nature investigations include using microscopes and cameras, and making science models.
Jun 27-July 1

NATURE SHUTTERBUGS
Youth ages 9-14 use cameras & various artistic techniques to express nature, combining & integrating photographs using paints, clay, wood, more. Cameras available, or bring yours.

MAMMAL CAMP
Campers ages 9-14 will investigate the world of native mammals through rescue. Mammal Visits, Q/A, guest speaker, Mammal structure & function model, & habitat inspection

Girl Scout Camp (Daisy/Brownie/Junior)
Scouts explore trails, birds, gardens, reptiles & butterflies with science investigations, Q/A & more. Nature Adventure patch in each subject.
