ANIMAL CARE UPDATE:

Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) was confirmed in Texas spring 2022, by Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD). We are taking every precaution to keep our parrots safe & healthy, by isolating from the wild bird population.  Until recently, all our birds were first kept behind the scenes, away from outdoor habitats & public access, then slowly returned outdoors rotationally.  But as USDA & TPWD guidance changes, they must go back indoors.  We continue to follow revised recommendations to help stop spread of this deadly virus among birds.

Human infection of HPAI is extremely rare. However, they unknowingly can carry airborne or solid contamination on shoes or clothing, to bird habitats.

We’re experimenting with indoor programs for visitors’ enjoyment, as described on the Home Page. Our parrots will be happy to see you!  Please check in Visitors Center for daily schedules.

Parrot Talk programs still are suspended, (though our website still may contain references to parrots or these temporarily suspended programs).
